Packing
There was a lot of it.
Auckland's 4th lockdown was a sudden announcement that upended plans for dental work, family dinner, a flat outing and most crucially; the wedding of the year for one of my school friends and her fantastic Mr Right.
Dental work and a mole map became a promise to floss and wear sunscreen until I return; Family dinner became regular calls with my parents and a socially distanced natter in the driveway of my sisters place after my pre-travel covid test (she lives near the GP I go to). Flat outing was pizza as I packed down my room in a hurry on the Sunday, before establishing seperate bubbles (Apparently the cat misses me).
The wedding however... this is the repeated saga of the pandemic many times over. It is deferred but not diminished. I will join too, virtually, with my fanciest top half +/- PJ pants. My mate took the shift in plans in her stride and is amazing.
Despite waning enthusiasm for packing; I managed to fit my stuff in a wee nook that K had set aside for me, and by some miracle, the collective weight of my bags after the first time I packed them was 50.2kg. (My allowance was 50). I didn’t bother repacking them and just perched them by the back door waiting for D day to arrive.
My pre-travel covid test and report got processed incredibly smoothly and quickly; for which I need to thank the good people at Westmere medical centre and labtests Auckland. They are great.
